A Meaningful Afternoon at the Mistletoe Market

In December, Canal Coffee spent time at the Mistletoe Market alongside Jalen Coker, hosted at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital. The event gave parents a chance to shop for Christmas presents for their children using donated toys.

Families, hospital staff, and volunteers moved through the space together. Canal Coffee served brewed coffee, hot chocolate, and the Coker Cold Brew, while Jalen took time to help parents shop and connect.

The Meaning Behind the Mistletoe Market

The Mistletoe Market gave parents the chance to shop for Christmas gifts for their children using donated toys. Rather than receiving pre-selected items, families were able to choose gifts themselves, which created a more meaningful experience.

The Mistletoe Market exists to support families in a thoughtful and practical way. It’s a reminder that community support doesn’t need to be loud to be impactful. Sometimes it’s simply about creating space for care, dignity, and connection.

The Day, and the People Who Made It Happen

What stood out most was how people showed up. Families, staff, and volunteers helped one another, shared short conversations, and made the experience feel welcoming from start to finish.

Jalen Coker was also present throughout the event. He spent time with families and assisted parents as they shopped for their children.

Canal Coffee set up a coffee bar nearby, serving brewed coffee, hot chocolate, and the Coker Cold Brew to everyone. It was a small gesture, but one that added comfort and warmth as the afternoon unfolded.

Why These Partnerships Matter

Events like the Mistletoe Market show what’s possible when local organizations, hospitals, and community leaders work together.

For Canal Coffee, partnerships like this are everything. We deeply care about being present and supporting local organizations in thoughtful ways that create real impact in the communities we serve.

Working alongside Jalen Coker and Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital reinforces a simple idea. Local impact comes from consistent involvement and choosing to support initiatives that put people first.

Thank You, and What’s Next

Canal Coffee is grateful to Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital, the hospital staff, volunteers, and families who made the Mistletoe Market possible. A special thank you as well to Jalen Coker for taking the time to be present and engaged throughout the event.

This collaboration reflects the kind of community support Canal Coffee aims to continue, thoughtful, consistent, and focused on people. Moving forward, we will keep supporting local organizations and initiatives that strengthen the communities it serves.
